Earlier today I spent a short time celebrating the initiative shown by Oxfam in bringing together 50 bloggers from around the world at the G20 Summit.
Great idea, well executed, though Tom Watson tells me on his blog that the competition run by Oxfam was slightly short notice because the press accreditation took a little while to get sorted.
I’d have loved to have been there, but I didn’t see the opportunity in time, so I’m not. Fair enough. Anthony Painter did, made sure he canvassed some votes, and is there. Fair play to Anthony, and to the other 49 who got their act together.
What do we get from Tom Harris MP and general up himself blogger? A bit of a playful whinge that he didn’t get invited even though his good friend Tom Watson did. Why should he? It was a competition with votes, preumably with votes being afforded in general correlation to what you know about the Oxfam agenda, and how committed you might be to it (I’m not sure how Tom Watson managed to tag along, as he’s not officially part of the 50, just using their gear).
But what do we get from Dale? A pathetic plaint, even though Oxfam had the courtesy to email him direct and ask him if he was interested in entering the competition – an eamil he accepts he deleted withoput even bothering to read.
And now when he realises he buggeredup big style? Well, now it’s only a competition run by ‘a charity’, and he really should have had a gold-plated invite, presumably complete with chauffeur driven limo, from the government.
Insert your own word here to sum up how Dale comes across……

Thanks for at least acknowledging that my whinge was “playful”. Sometimes it pays not to sound so angry and bitter all the time, Paul.
Stay bitter and angry, Paul. it’s much better than smug and complacent.
